And the damage?

I'm sure most of you would like to know the costs of building this beast. If the awesome looks of a hand finished round house isn't enough then I'm sure this part will inspire more to build this way, so here's a basic breakdown.

We looked at MrFixit, a Bali blogger to find out approximate costs per m2 for building in Indonesia. Bali of course is more expensive than most parts of Indonesia but MrFixit breaks it down to cheapest, medium and luxury build costs. Comparatively we built for the same price as the cheapest build that he describes, a basic local house with very cheap fittings and basic plumbing and electric systems.

The total price to build ours can be broken down into two halves, the roof 50%, and the rest. That's because of the relatively expensive roofing panels, the hard wood supports and Bill's awesome center supports. The cost of a normal flat roof would I'm sure have been 25% to 30% of what we paid, bringing the total price of the build way down.

Our total build costs, including some afterthought PVC sliding doors and all the finishing, $16,000, for a square meter cost of $200!
