'The Bed' featuring Martin

'The Bed' another chapter deliberated over at many 2am design sessions! A four poster from tree trunks, the head resting on the raised 'seating' that we'd integrated into the walls. One morning I called the owner of the teak plantation in front of us to ask him if I could cut some of the smaller trunks and use them, he said yes and that same morning I cut two and dragged them up to the house with my ATV. That afternoon we were on a beach combing trip and found two washed up mangrove trees and two mahogany tree trunks recently cut for a shelter but not used, we asked the locals there and they said take them. If you've ever seen an old mangrove tree washed up on the beach you'll know what an awesome piece of wood looks like and how f'ing hard and heavy it is! So we had the posts and some hardwood that we'd bought previously for the kitchen floor, that didn't work out and we cut the planks to size for the bed.
