Doors

Having a house that's not got many level surfaces or upright frames makes it impossible to buy anything 'off the shelf'. Not a prob if you love making shit lol

Rustic is the look we wanted so 'barn doors' were the only way to go, also the easiest build :) Laid out on the kitchen floor before all screwed and nailed together.

All installed! Now that was a bit of a mission. I made the door to the 'shape' of the frame but could not get the verticals to match so I had to trim out the frame with a router/trimmer. It was a mission firstly as I'd never done anything like this and secondly as it was the sweatiest day to have wood shavings flying everywhere!

From the outside and inside, we thought we'd put the braces on the inside as that's the nicest looking and the outside will be pimped with some nice accessories, door knocker and faux letter box. Don't need a real letter box because junk mail is non existent in Lombok wooohooo!Later in the blog you may notice the door hinges changed sides, a decision brought about by buying the wrong sided 100+ year old door handles from reclamation in the UK, they would have worked but the keyhole would have been upside down :) The door actually works better opening to the right so alls well that ends well.
